Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor-Central Distribution.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for assisting the Manager of Central Distribution in the control of inventory supplies maintained under perpetual inventory assisting in accomplishing facility inventory turn goals and other inventory related objectives within the department including but not limited to accurate recommended reorder points reorder quantities limit out of stock issues increase use of consignment ongoing evaluation of supply movement and acts as backup to Inventory/Receiving Coordinator position as needed Also responsible for first line supervision of all Central Distribution activities staff scheduling shift management and the coordination of delivery of medical surgical supplies to the nursing units
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Demonstrates the ability to maximize resources and is skillful in adjusting resources according to the workload and volume Effectively assesses the department status and plans workflow accordingly Distributes assignments equitably and arranges work assignments to reduce or avoid overtime Assigns work in order to accomplish goals in a timely fashion and makes allowances for individual initiative Informs the employee of their assignment immediately upon reporting to work or in advance Solicits feedback from the employee to ensure the assignment is understood Utilizes employee performance report to assign tasks maximizing resources and to adjusting resources according to the workload and volume
- Demonstrates knowledge of managerial principles by consistently utilizing problem analysis group dynamics and staff skills analysis in an objective manner Demonstrates effective strategic analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex problems Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the departments policies and procedures and adapts their principles to the daily workload Communicates the need for new policies and procedures to superiors in a timely manner Develops short and long range plans for the accomplishment of goals and objectives Addresses all contingencies in a plan
- Demonstrates knowledge in generating and interpreting statistical productivity and quality performance reports and utilizes the data to improve the departments performance Demonstrates understanding in manipulating statistical and mathematical data and can express information obtained in graphical form to identify and resolve problems Utilizes productivity reports to assess areas of improvement Consistently monitors individual and shift productivity and proactively sets goals to achieve the overall shift productivity
- Accurately and consistently follows documentation guidelines in all phases of the process as required by the department and regulatory agencies Actively participates in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures Recognizes the need for new policies and procedures composes them and submits them to the manager for feedback and approval Researches the information accurately and thoroughly Utilizes the information to compose reports memos and letters in a clear and well written manner Reports are distributed on the monthly management meeting in a well organized manner Keeps himself/herself and staff informed of current legislation and advances in the Materials Management/ Distribution field and technology Incorporates new changes from regulatory agencies in the process and monitors compliance
- Demonstrates skill and effectively manages human relations activities Demonstrates high standard of management people and team skills including the ability to lead a team to achieve quality outcomes within time budgets and timeframes Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to ensuring workplace diversity workplace participation and a safe working environment Demonstrates ability and willingness to motivate mentor staff and develop good working relationships with customers and team members Effectively interacts and cooperates with employees and other people
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and technical expertise in sterile processing and inventory control principles Demonstrates knowledge of regulating agencies recommended standards practices and procedures for sterile processing and supply distribution Demonstrates skill in application of decontamination preparation and sterilization technique Utilizes recommended standards to identify areas of improvement in all phases of the process Performs every task in the decontamination preparation and sterilization areas Demonstrates the ability to teach basic sciences related to microbiology decontamination preparation and sterilization concepts of interpersonal relationships and teamwork
- Utilizes effectively time and manages to complete assignments within the allotted time Demonstrates ability to allocate sufficient time for priorities and does the important tasks first Utilizes a timetable and a year planner to set shift and departmental goals Demonstrates organizational skills by maintaining his/her work area neat checks e mail and mail daily and records daily happenings on the shift management report
- Demonstrates ability and skills to monitor audit and enhance the quality of the process and products manufactured or rendered to customers by the department
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor s Degree in Education or Healthcare related field or a combination of similar education and experience Knowledge of Materials Management general operations Strong skills related to the management of inventory control with a minimum three years of responsible of progressive work experiences in supply distribution Knowledge of specific health care products Must possess computer knowledge Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of formal supervision principles leadership education and/or the Certification in Healthcare Leadership concepts Certification in materials resources CMRP or IAHCSMMs materials management certification Knowledge of inventory control software such as Pathways Materials Management Current membership and active participation in a relevant professional organizations

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,400.00 – $65,720.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
